Hot and Bothered

I got back from 2 weeks in California on Saturday morning. Red eye. Needless to say I slept all day Saturday. All day.
I still don't understand why we all don't live in Californa... its a big state. right?
Why do we endure bothersome hot humidity and snowy cold winters and mosquitos? It is a mystery to me.
I missed the annual Ainge family California trip last year and I will never miss it again. I am a much happier person with a little bit of a tan and a break from sticky underground transportation. What a difference 2 weeks can make. I definitely feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and happy to be home.
Craig joined the fun for the first week. My family out west needed some proof of his existence so he took his first and much needed vacation. As usual he threw a tantrum about wearing sunscreen and got burned the first day on the beach (duh) and kept his shirt on for the remainder of his stay. He is happy his burn has turned into a nice tan (on his front side...)and has made it a priority to sunbathe for the rest of the summer so he doesn't lose it. I believe his exact words were, "Babe, first thing we need to do when you get back is lay out because I look way better with this tan and I do not want to lose it..." and of course my response is always "yes sir".
Right after Craig left my sister in law Heidi had her baby (Oliver) in Utah... so we convinced my brother Tanner to bring Oscar to the beach and play with us to give Heidi as much peace and quiet as she could get. Craig was not very happy about missing the opportunity to play with Tanner. (talk about bromance)Goodness Heidi... if only you had Oliver the week earlier... Take it up with the big man Craig.
I never get to see Tanner and his family and I had so much fun playing with Oscar for a few days. He is a very polite, happy, energetic little boy and I hate that I don't get to see him all the time! And who knows when I'll get to see baby Oliver. Unfortunate to say the least.
My sister Ashlee and her family was in CA for the 2 weeks I was there. It is always fun to have your sister around... unfortunately brothers aren't really into watching So you think you can dance and shopping for cute baby clothes. Her kids grow up so much every time I see them. I feel like I finally made a special bond with Siena (SiSi)and it makes me sad to think she won't even remember me next time I see her.
Biggest con of NYC... too far away from California, Arizona and Utah where most of our favorite people reside. (PS... Ashlee's husband James has been working on a super cool watch line for the past year and a half or so. Things should really get going in the next month or so which is VERY exciting. I'll keep you posted. In the mean time check out the landing page at micamove.com.)
But I cannot complain... 2 weeks with my awesome family in gorgeous weather, playing tennis, sitting on the beach, family dinners, card games... Life doesn't get better than that.
Now I am back to work, New York City, and real life. This week is all about the hunt for the perfect apartment. We are having some difficulties and disagreements...
Wish me luck!

Oh trust me when I say I have had the same thought. SoCal, SoCOOl, right? My absolute favorite state. I can't wait for SYTYCD tomorrow. Kayla is totally going to win. I even called 1-888-tempo-04 for her tonight.

I love California so much. Sounds like the best trip. I agree - let's somehow move NYC/New England next to California/Utah. That would be really convenient for me.

Glad your back on the East Coast ... can't wait to get together again asap!
